8 ways to get a job on a yacht
Wanna work on a yacht?

If you were to check my Linkedin inbox, you would find one question getting asked all the time: how to get a job on yacht as an ETO.
So here is 8 ways, ranked by the highest probability of landing you that job:
1. HAVING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH BUNCH OF YACHT CHIEF ENGINEERS
In most cases, Chief Engineers are the decision makers.
2. HAVING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH BUNCH OF YACHT ETOS.
When an ETO role becomes available, the remaining ETO can make a strong suggestion for the new candidate. This could also be ranked in 3rd place.
3. HAVING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH BUNCH OF YACHT CAPTAINS.
Captains have the last saying in all the important stuff on a yacht (most of the time) but they usually don’t get involved in ETO hiring process. However, if they do, they will usually get their way. Because of that, this could also be ranked in 2nd place.
4. ACTING LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT
In these instances, one usually gets bold and creative. However, it’s still better to be on good terms with bunch of yacht Chief Engineers, ETOs and Captains.
5. HAVING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH BUNCH OF YACHT AGENTS.
Agents will get you closer to the job, but they are not decision makers.
6. HAVING THE RIGHT PASSPORT.
Seems like some passports work better.
7. HAVING GREAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE AND SUPERBLY WRITTEN CV.
I don’t know why I listed this one.
8. CLICK APPLY ON YOTSPOT.
Yeah…
So I guess if you want to step into the yachting world, go out and make some friends.
